General English

Enjoy an English Educational Holiday in Yorkshire!!

What we offer

Our general English courses are aimed at those wishing to improve all aspects of their functional English so that they can communicate in a wide variety of real-life situations. The course also focuses on imparting information about British culture and heritage.

Through presenting English in a fun and enjoyable way you will cover all the major skill areas: speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. If desired you can choose to focus predominantly on your speaking and listening skills so that you really get the most out of your time in England by improving your spoken fluency, and developing your conversational techniques.

Format

After learning English in the mornings you will have ample opportunity in the afternoons to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, visit numerous attractions, and enjoy the large number of activities on offer. All trips and excursions are planned and arranged for you before you arrive!

We also offer the following courses providing English tuition in the mornings and in the afternoons you can pursue interests such as Golf, Walking or Cycling.

English with Golf

After learning English in the morning, relax and enjoy a round of golf in the afternoon on one of Scarborough's fine golf courses.

Cycling

You may also choose to have 1-2 hours private tuition from a local golf professional each afternoon before you play! Situated just outside of Scarborough is the Championship Links course of Ganton which staged the Curtis Cup in 2000 and the Walker Cup in 2003.

English with Walking

By far one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the beautiful countryside around Scarborough is on foot. Each afternoon, we organise suitable walking routes for everyone -from a long hike through rugged hills in the North York Moors National Park, to a short gentle stroll in picturesque villages.

English with Cycling

The 'Moor to Sea cycle route' boasts over 80 miles of tracks crossing the stunning moorlands and beautiful forests of North Yorkshire, reaching as far as the dramatic heritage coastline.

Cycling

The area is recognised as one of the best areas for cycling in England and caters for all abilities and levels of fitness. In addition to the Moor to Sea cycle route, there are a number of other cross-country cycle trails around the National Park, such as in Dalby Forest, which provide superb mountain biking routes for the more expert rider. Cycles can be hired on route.

English with Tai Chi

Tai chi is a wonderful art which gently exercises the whole body, promotes good physical and emotional health and generates a feeling of inner peace. In today’s stressful world, tai chi is an effective stressbuster that restores vitality and mental freshness in the practitioner.

Tai Chi

The relaxing movements are suitable for students of any age, level of fitness or physical ability.
